  • Born Alanis Nadine Morissette June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Ontario
  • The Canadian singer/songwriter broke through with her third studio album, 1995's Jagged Little Pill. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and featured the hits "You Oughta Know," "Hand In My Pocket" and "Ironic."
  • At the 38th GRAMMY Awards, Morissette won her first career awards for Album Of The Year and Best Rock Album (Jagged Little Pill) and Best Female Rock Performance and Best Rock Song ("You Oughta Know"). That same year, she performed "You Oughta Know" for her GRAMMY stage debut.
  • Morissette was among the performers at the 2015 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute concert honoring Bob Dylan. The annual gala raises funds for MusiCares, which provides services and resources that cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies for music people.  
  • She has supported charities such as Relationships First, Attachment Parenting International, P.S. Arts, and the National Eating Disorder Association.
