  • Born Martina Mariea Schiff July 29, 1966, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas
     
  • Martina McBride scored her first Top 40 hit with 1998's "Wrong Again," which hit No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her first Top 10 album, Martina, peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200.
     
  • McBride's first career GRAMMY nomination was for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Independence Day" at the 37th GRAMMY Awards.
     
  • She made her GRAMMY stage debut at the 46th GRAMMY Awards in 2004, performing "Concrete Angel."
     
  • As a child, McBride began singing with a local country band her father fronted called the Schiffters.
     
  • In 2017 she hosted the GRAMMYs on the Hill Awards in Washington, D.C., honoring Keith Urban and Sens. Susan Collins and Tom Udall.
     
  • McBride has served as spokeswoman for the National Domestic Violence Hotline and National Network to End Domestic Violence.
